I remember each day that I had " died ",

The sorrow had been too much, 

Away from life my soul had fled, 

But the body lived on and I cried. 

My senses did I still use on,    

And made some efforts as such,

But they say I am a thing as the dead,

Apart from the living I am torn.

As if, for me, the grave were best,
My efforts have no-one touched,
More and more of my being has now been shed,
And the soul craves a deeper rest.

 Women's human rights as individuals :  

The extremist turn that the women's lib has taken, makes it embarrassing to even say a few thoughts on it.

What I wished to bring to a general notice is that when women are denied human rights as individuals, corruption occurs in society.

          

Most who strongly proclaim rights of women, are such that they don't even acknowledge the existence of any woman who is without link to a man ! 

So that something that can be done single-handedly pushes unnecessarily towards corruption.

I see that men and women have different roles, and should not be exactly the same. But the insistence that a woman doesn't even exist or have ordinary human rights, leads to terrible unavoidable corruption.

Just as recently as the early 20th century was the suffragette movement and women struggled for the right to vote! In many parts of the world women were burned alive as witches on showing any individual thinking. This thinking is so ingrained that the  recognition of a woman as having an individual existence is just not acknowledged and persecution and harassment is done and an already difficult existence is made harder so as to drive her to wrong. 

 Sura Taha ( verse 131 ) speaks of the fact that a single being,  may be getting better and more lasting sustenance than pairs who may be getting it only to test them. This shows individual existence is acceptable . Without greed it is possible and better in fact. It is only for the woman herself to decide what is her individual level and what goes beyond.

Sura Nur ( verse 33 ) seems to  speak of a single woman having a right to keep her chastity and is  not to be harrassed and driven to whoredom. This means individual existence of a woman is acknowledged. Also the sura states that those who are single are to abstain. Present day culture is far far from this. 

The cells or the pores of any individual are releasing energy.  Five senses, thoughts are active ,yet a man's link is required that a woman be acknowledged as existing, and not be cast aside, ignored, not allowed to speak. Almost buried alive !

In the time of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) right to give opinion , right to speak out, property rights were never only for women who had a link to a man. 

The denying attitudes in society are the major cause of all corruption that happens. 

My main position is only that individual existence be acknowledged. Persecution  of individual women is to such an extent that ordinary human rights are denied. My view is that both men and women have individual roles and I do not say that women should have equal rights in the same way as the liberation movement demands. Since purity is more important in women, so the persecution of women in this regard is more horrible.

Persecution of women who are as individuals leads to corruption 

 

Section: Medicine ; Prevention of blindness ;Glaucoma

The majority of causes of blindness in Pakistan are preventable. Glaucoma is a leading cause. There should be more focus on Eye hospitals. 
Glaucoma consists of raised intra-ocular-tension which causes pressure atrophy of the optic nerve resulting in decreasing vision. This may be insidious, or sudden. It may be asymptomatic or occur with pain in the eye and coloured halos around lights and decreasing visual field specially un-noticed when at the periphery.
Everyone must know the quick way to roughly assess intra-ocular-pressure. Ask the person to close eye-lids. Place two index-finger-tips on the upper eye-lid and press upon the eye-ball alternatively to assess the fluctuation of the eye-ball. Less fluctuation indicates high pressure.This method may be used to screen patients for glaucoma. It may be taught to servants etc. to pass on in their villages etc. It may be done on beggars on the streets groping about and so prevent total blindness in them . It may be done as an emergency self-examination in case of eye-pain when accompanied by the other signs mentioned above.
Most cases respond to 2% pilocarpine eye-drops, until further assessment can be done when and where possible in the under-developed world.
